Harper's Mansion

Harper's Mansion stands on a hill with two acres of formal gardens, featuring red clay bricks and sandstone construction from local materials.

James Harper constructed this residence between 1834 and 1844, before financial difficulties led to its transfer to the Catholic Church as a presbytery.

The Georgian architecture of the mansion includes original joinery, plasterwork, ceiling roses, and cornices that demonstrate colonial craftsmanship techniques.

The mansion opens to visitors on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 3pm, with admission fees ranging from free for children under 5 to $42 for families.

The property contains one of Australia's largest hedge mazes, planted in 1999, surrounded by heritage roses and cool-climate perennial gardens.
