Belmore Sports Ground

Belmore Sports Ground is a rugby league stadium featuring a main covered grandstand with approximately 9,000 seats, standing areas at both ends, and a large hill section. The venue holds about 19,000 spectators total and contains modern training facilities beneath the main stand.

The ground opened in 1920 and underwent major improvements in 1936 when a large stand from Sydney Cricket Ground was moved to the site. This renovation transformed it into a significant sports center for the region.

This ground served as the home of Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs for over six decades, shaping the sports identity of the area. Local supporters built deep connections to their team through countless matches here.

The stadium is located near Belmore railway station, making it easy to reach by public transport. It is advisable to arrive early for large events to secure a good viewing spot.

In April 1993, a match between Canterbury and Parramatta drew approximately 27,800 spectators, the highest attendance ever recorded here. This remains one of the largest crowds the ground has ever hosted.
