The stadium opened in 1920 and received a significant upgrade in 1936 when a large stand from Sydney Cricket Ground was relocated there.
Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs maintained this ground as their primary home from 1936 to 1998, creating a strong local sports identity in Belmore.
Located near Belmore railway station, the stadium maintains a capacity of 19,000 people with modern training facilities underneath the main grandstand.
The ground recorded its highest attendance in April 1993 when 27,804 spectators watched Canterbury defeat Parramatta with a score of 42-6.
