The building was completed in 1988 and stands as a significant work by architect Harry Seidler. It received the Sulman Award from the Royal Australian Institute of Architects for its innovative design.
The lobby features an artwork called 'Pillars & Cones' by American artist Frank Stella that demonstrates minimalist design principles. This piece makes an impression on everyone entering the building.
