Yester Grange

Yester Grange is a grand estate set on eight hectares of land directly above the main waterfall at Wentworth Falls, offering sweeping views of Jamison Valley. Built between 1888 and 1891, the residence features distinctive architecture made with kauri wood imported from New Zealand.

John Charles Smith built the estate between 1888 and 1891, choosing imported New Zealand kauri wood as a signature building material. A New South Wales Premier later expanded the residence by adding a grand ballroom for formal events.

The estate served as a residence for prominent figures in New South Wales and hosted grand social gatherings that shaped the region's upper-class life. Today you can observe how wealthy families lived and used their homes as places of status and entertainment.

The property sits approximately 95 kilometers west of Sydney and currently operates primarily as a venue for private events such as weddings and conferences. Visitors should inquire ahead since the estate is only open to the public at certain times for tours and viewing.

The property underwent a remarkable transformation from an abandoned holiday house to a museum attraction before being converted into an events center in 2012. These shifting purposes have shaped the place and show how historic buildings can reinvent themselves across different eras.
