348-352 George Street, Sydney, Heritage-listed office building in Sydney, Australia
The 348-352 George Street building presents a Federation Romanesque architectural design with rock-faced masonry, semicircular openings, and load-bearing walls made of trachyte stone.
Built in 1894 by Hudson and Loveridge following Edward Raht's design, this structure replaced three earlier buildings, including Fraser's Auction Rooms and Paling's Music Warehouse.
Maybanke Anderson operated The Woman's Voice journal from the third floor in 1898, establishing the Women's Federal League to promote female political participation.
The building maintains its original commercial function while preserving historical elements such as marble facings, colored glass ceilings, and vintage lift cars.
The entrance features a massive arch spanning 13 meters with individual stone blocks weighing three tons each, demonstrating exceptional engineering for its time.
