The theatre began operations in December 1929 with the film 'Behind the Curtain' and transformed from a cinema into a performing arts venue in the 1970s.
The 1520-seat venue hosts numerous musicals, plays, concerts, and dance performances throughout the year, making it a central point for performing arts.
Located at 375 Hunter Street, the theatre maintains its original architecture while providing modern facilities for contemporary productions and entertainment events.
The building combines Georgian Revival exterior architecture with Mediterranean and Moorish interior influences, creating distinct architectural elements across its spaces.
