DownsSteam Tourist Railway & Museum, Railway heritage museum in Drayton, Australia
DownsSteam is a railway museum in Drayton featuring restored locomotives, vintage carriages, and historic station buildings arranged across an outdoor exhibition site. The collection presents different periods of Australian railway operations and equipment.
The museum's main building came from Yuleba railway station, where it operated from 1879 until 2008 before being relocated to Drayton. This relocation allowed the historic structure to be preserved and adapted for public use.
The Dreamtime Journey Coach displays Aboriginal art and stories within a dedicated railway carriage, honoring Indigenous workers who helped build the railway network. These artworks and narratives allow visitors to learn about contributions that shaped the region.
The museum runs regular steam train excursions that let passengers experience vintage railway travel across the surrounding region. Bring water and sun protection, as much of the site is outdoors and exposed.
The locomotive called Pride of Toowoomba, model C16-106, was built in 1914 as the final steam engine manufactured at the Toowoomba Foundry. This engine marks the end of a local manufacturing tradition that shaped the region's railways.
