Sea Viper, Steel roller coaster at Sea World, Gold Coast, Australia
Sea Viper was a steel roller coaster at Sea World on the Gold Coast featuring orange track supported by white structures. The ride stretched across about 600 meters and included three inversions that took riders through multiple twists and turns.
The ride opened in September 1982 as Corkscrew and became a landmark attraction at the park for many years. It operated continuously before closing in July 2014 after more than three decades of service.
The installation of Sea Viper established new standards for Australian theme parks as the first roller coaster in the country with three inversions.
The ride was designed for people between approximately 130 and 200 centimeters in height and reached speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour. Visitors needed to be prepared for physical demands as the ride featured intense turns and rapid movements throughout.
What made this ride special was its interaction with the park's Monorail System, with one of the loops passing directly beneath the monorail track. This structural feature created a memorable moment that blended two attractions into one shared space.
