Sea World

Sea World is a marine park on the Gold Coast in Queensland with shark and dolphin pools, penguin enclosures, and several roller coasters and water attractions. The site covers expansive grounds that combine animal habitats with rides and dining facilities.

Keith Williams founded this park in 1971 on the site of the former Surfers Paradise Ski Gardens, bringing together animal exhibits and entertainment. Over the following decades, new sections were developed that expanded and modernized the original concept.

The name reflects the connection between entertainment and ocean life that has shaped the concept since its foundation. Visitors today experience a mix of rides and aquarium landscapes that link both aspects together, appealing to a broad audience.

Paths throughout the park are accessible for wheelchairs and connect all main areas. Dining options are distributed across the grounds, so long distances between attractions are not necessary.

A research center on the grounds focuses on rescuing and rehabilitating injured marine animals from the region. The work there runs parallel to visitor operations and contributes to coastal wildlife conservation.
