Nerang National Park, National park in Gold Coast hinterland, Australia
Nerang National Park is a protected area in the Gold Coast hinterland featuring a mix of dry rainforest and open eucalypt woodland. The landscape is shaped by grey gums, blue gums, stringybarks, and tallowwood trees distributed throughout.
The park was first protected in 2009 and received a major expansion in 2014. This two-phase process allowed a connected network of forest areas and habitats to be preserved.
The land holds deep connections to Indigenous Australian communities who maintained traditional relationships with the natural environment across generations.
The park offers several walking tracks, designated mountain bike routes, and horse riding paths for visitors. Campfires and motorized vehicles are not permitted throughout the area.
The park contains remnants of gallery rainforest within its gullies that function as natural corridors for local wildlife. These sheltered forest strips allow animals to move between different habitats.
