Surfrider, Steel roller coaster at Warner Bros Movie World, Gold Coast, Australia.
Surfrider is a steel roller coaster at Warner Bros Movie World on the Gold Coast. The ride features two vertical track sections forming a U-shape where trains are propelled upward using linear synchronous motors for rapid acceleration.
The roller coaster was originally installed at Wet'n'Wild Gold Coast in 2007 and operated there until 2020. The ride was then relocated to Warner Bros Movie World in 2024.
The ride incorporates surfing elements through freely spinning circular cars that seat six riders in a surfboard-like arrangement. This design links the thrill of a roller coaster experience with water sports aesthetics.
Visitors must be at least 140 centimeters tall to ride this roller coaster. The attraction processes around 460 passengers per hour during operating times.
The design uses magnetic propulsion systems to launch trains vertically on both sides of the U-shaped track. This dual-acceleration technology enables two separate launching phases within the same course.
