Escape from Madagascar, Steel roller coaster in Dreamworld, Coomera, Australia
Escape from Madagascar is a steel roller coaster at Dreamworld theme park in Coomera, Queensland, measuring 342 meters long and reaching 14.8 meters high. The Vekoma-designed ride features gentle curves and moderate speeds as a family-friendly experience.
The coaster opened in 2002 as Rugrats Runaway Reptar within the Nickelodeon Central zone. It was reimagined as Escape from Madagascar during the DreamWorks Experience renovation in 2012.
The ride was designed with families in mind, blending safety with entertainment elements that children and adults can share together. Visitors notice how the focus rests on accessible thrills without intense or frightening moments.
Visitors need to be at least 110 centimeters tall to ride the 1.5-minute journey, which seats 20 passengers per train with over-shoulder harnesses. The queuing area is straightforward to navigate and the loading process moves quickly.
The ride uses a magnetic braking system to gently slow the coaster as it returns to the station at the end. This innovative approach works without physical contact and ensures a smoothly controlled arrival.
