Superman Escape, Steel roller coaster at Warner Bros. Movie World, Gold Coast, Australia
Superman Escape is a steel roller coaster at Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast in Australia. The track runs through an enclosed building and uses a hydraulic launch system for its acceleration phase.
The roller coaster opened on Boxing Day 2005 after a six-month construction period. Building work began in June that year and required demolishing two older attractions on the site.
The ride design integrates elements from DC Comics, placing riders in a Metropolis subway station scenario with special effects of bursting gas mains and flooding.
Guests must be between 140 centimeters and 196 centimeters tall to ride the roller coaster. The experience takes place in darkened rooms and may be challenging for people sensitive to light effects or sudden noises.
The trains consist of five cars with two rows of seats each and can transport up to 480 people per hour. The ride uses a hydraulic catapult system that accelerates to full speed in two seconds.
