Rocky Hollow Log Ride, Log flume ride at Dreamworld, Gold Coast, Australia
Rocky Hollow Log Ride was a water ride at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast where visitors traveled in boat-shaped vehicles through water channels. The course covered roughly 500 meters (1,640 feet) and concluded with a steep final descent into a splash pool.
The ride opened with Dreamworld on December 15, 1981, and operated for four decades before closing in 2020. It was later dismantled as part of the park's renovation plans.
The log ride represented a fundamental part of Australian theme park entertainment, drawing multiple generations of families to experience water-based thrills.
Each ride lasted roughly four minutes and twenty seconds and concluded with a steep drop that soaked passengers. It was smart to bring dry clothes or plan time to dry off before exploring other areas of the park.
The park's team designed and built most of the ride themselves, using international experts only for specialized technical parts. This blend of local ingenuity and outside knowledge shaped many early theme park projects in Australia.
