Leviathan, Wooden roller coaster at Sea World in Surfers Paradise, Australia
Leviathan is a wooden roller coaster located at Sea World in Surfers Paradise, taking riders through a series of twists, drops, and climbs along its timber-frame structure. The ride operates multiple trains that carry passengers through the layout at varying speeds.
Construction of the coaster was completed in 2023, making it the first major wooden roller coaster at a theme park in the Gold Coast region. This addition expanded the park's selection of thrill rides available to visitors.
Leviathan represents part of the New Atlantis precinct, incorporating maritime mythology themes through its design and accompanying warrior statue installation.
The final car of each train features backward-facing seats, giving riders a different view of the track as they move through the circuit. This arrangement offers a contrasting experience compared to riding in the front sections.
The structure is built from southern yellow pine imported from the United States, selected for its strength and resistance to moisture in coastal environments. This material choice allows the ride to withstand the challenging conditions near the ocean.
