Magic Mountain, Nobby Beach, Amusement park in Nobby Beach, Queensland, Australia
Magic Mountain was an amusement park in Nobby Beach featuring ten different rides including a chairlift, dodgem cars, a double-decker carousel, and a parachute drop tower. The attractions were arranged across a mountainside setting that drew visitors from across the region.
The park began operations in 1962 when Page Newman built the initial chairlift system, which carried 40,000 visitors in its first year. The site closed in 1987 and was later redeveloped.
The park served as a gathering place for families across the Gold Coast, offering entertainment and recreation to generations of visitors. People came here to spend time together and create lasting memories.
The park no longer exists, having been cleared in 1991 and later subdivided into residential and commercial properties. Its name survives only in Chairlift Avenue, which marks where the site once stood.
Part of the chairlift structure was relocated to Dreamworld, while the parachute tower moved to Australia's Wonderland. This migration of rides shows how pieces of the park's story were preserved elsewhere.
