Palm Beach Surf Club
Palm Beach Surf Club is a restaurant and surf lifesaving club located right by the beach at Palm Beach on the Gold Coast. The building has simple terraced decks overlooking the sand and ocean, and serves lunch items such as burgers and fish and chips during the day, with dinner options including steaks, risotto, and fresh barramundi at night.
The club was founded in 1930 and has been part of the local community ever since. It is one of eleven clubs in the region belonging to Surf Life Saving Queensland's Point Danger Branch and takes pride in its long history of keeping beach visitors safe.
The club takes its name from its location at Palm Beach and its role as a lifesaving organization. Today, visitors can see how people use the space throughout the day: relaxing after a swim, eating with friends, and watching the waves roll in.
The club offers free car parking right next to it and is easy to reach. It has both outdoor and indoor seating areas on its terraces, making it simple to find a spot and settle in.
In 2022, the club became the first surf club in Australia to be certified as 'Ocean Friendly' by the Surfrider Foundation. It uses no plastic straws, reusable cutlery, and ceramic containers instead of single-use packaging, while also planning solar panel installations.
