Rainworth House, Bardon, Heritage residence in Bardon, Australia

Rainworth House features steep short-ridge roof construction with three-sided verandahs and French doors along its primary facade at 7 Barton Street.

Sir Augustus Charles Gregory, a prominent explorer and surveyor-general of Queensland, built and resided in this house from 1862 until his death in 1905.

The residence reflects the architectural preferences of 1860s Queensland through its twelve-inch chamfer-board walls and beaded tongue-and-groove interior finishes.

The building incorporates casement windows positioned above French doors, creating a natural ventilation system that maintains comfortable indoor temperatures.

The original estate's subdivision influenced local street names, with Gregory Street and Gregory Park commemorating the connection to their namesake resident.
