Brisbane Airport, International aerodrome in Brisbane, Australia
Brisbane Airport is an international aerodrome in Queensland, Australia, that covers a large area and operates two passenger terminals. These terminals serve connections to numerous domestic and overseas destinations through dozens of airlines that carry passengers daily.
The aerodrome began operations in March 1988 and replaced the earlier Eagle Farm Airport after a multiyear construction phase. The site had previously been a residential settlement that was cleared to make way for the new aviation hub.
The terminal buildings display artworks by Indigenous artists that visitors can view throughout the year. Regular exhibitions present the artistic tradition and cultural heritage of Queensland at several locations within the public areas.
Travelers can reach the site via a dedicated rail link, several parking options, and free shuttle buses between terminals. Direct connections to the Brisbane city center are also available and make transfers easier for arrivals and departures.
The site houses an active medical facility where rescue helicopters and emergency teams for all of Queensland are stationed. These units conduct daily rescue operations and transport patients from remote regions of the state for treatment.
