Wynnum, Administrative division in Brisbane City, Australia
Wynnum stretches along the eastern edge of Brisbane, with a population of 14,036 residents spread across 7.8 square kilometers of coastal terrain.
The area transformed from Bulimba Division in 1879 to Kianawah Division in 1888, then became Town of Wynnum in 1912 before joining Brisbane in 1925.
The name Wynnum originates from Durubalic language, referring to either pandanus palm or mud crab, reflecting the Aboriginal heritage of the region.
The Cleveland railway line connects Wynnum to Brisbane's central business district through regular train services, offering transportation options for residents and visitors.
Aboriginal men from Black's Camp contributed to the construction of the original Wynnum jetty in the 1850s and later saved three European women from Wynnum Creek.
