Einasleigh Hotel

The Einasleigh Hotel is a two-story timber building with corrugated iron roofing and wide verandahs along Daintree Street in Queensland. The structure preserves its early 20th-century architectural details and continues to provide accommodation, meals, and refreshments to visitors and locals.

Built between 1908 and 1909 during the copper mining boom, the hotel was constructed when the region was prosperous and growing. It remains as the sole survivor from five hotels that once operated in the town by 1910.

This establishment serves as a gathering place where the local community comes together for social events and celebrations. It holds meaning as the heart of town life in this remote region.

The hotel is easy to locate since it sits directly on the main street and is visible from the town center of Einasleigh. It is best to check ahead as this is a small establishment in a remote area and services may vary.

In 1994, residents organized a blockade to protest against the closure of the Cairns to Forsayth railway line. This action revealed how much the hotel and its connection to the outside world meant to the small community.
