Imperial Hotel, Ravenswood

The Imperial Hotel is a two-story building with deep verandahs on multiple sides, red brick walls, and decorative trim that reflects early 1900s design. The structure sits prominently on Macrossan Street and operates as both a guest house and dining establishment.

Built in 1901 during the gold rush, the hotel burned down soon after opening but was reconstructed immediately using the original design. This quick rebuild shows how essential the building was to the thriving mining community of that time.

The bar area showcases hand-carved wooden details and period furnishings that reflect how people gathered and conducted business during the early 1900s. These spaces show the social importance of hotels in colonial mining towns.

The hotel sits on Macrossan Street in the town center and is easy to reach on foot while exploring the area. Visitors should note that the building operates as a working business and visits are best timed during business hours.

This building is one of the few structures still standing from when Ravenswood was a busy mining town with numerous hotels and a large working population. It stands as a rare reminder of that prosperous period before the town declined.
