The land was purchased in 1929 from the Water and Electricity Supply Department, with initial plantings of Raintree, Eucalyptus, and Melaleuca trees in 1932.
The Cape York Peninsula Collection displays native palms, gingers, and ornamental trees, reflecting the natural heritage of Far North Queensland.
Located at 41 Gulliver Street in Mundingburra, the park offers walking tracks, picnic areas, drinking fountains, and wheelchair accessible facilities.
The gardens house one of the largest cultivated collections of Pandanus species, including varieties from Australia, New Guinea, and Southeast Asia.
