Saints Theodores Greek Orthodox Church

Saints Theodores is a Greek Orthodox church in Townsville built from red brick with rounded columns that support arches leading to a choir gallery beneath a central tower. The building combines traditional Orthodox architectural features with local construction methods and materials typical of mid-20th century Queensland.

The foundation stone was laid in March 1947 and construction finished in 1950 under the direction of architects M. Vogiatzoglou and J.G. Rooney. This project reflected the growing Greek Orthodox community in Townsville during the post-war period.

The church serves as a gathering place for the Greek-Australian community to celebrate their heritage through religious observances and family events. These traditions remain an important part of how visitors experience the spiritual life within its walls.
