Riverway is a recreational and cultural complex stretching along Ross River, connecting multiple parks with swimming lagoons, walking paths, and arts facilities. The land originally served as a military camp before Thuringowa Shire Council transformed it for public use and named it Pioneer Sporting Complex in 1971. This conversion from military use to a community recreation space helped shape the region's leisure infrastructure.
Pinnacles Gallery within Riverway Arts Centre hosts contemporary art exhibitions and runs community engagement programs throughout the year. The space functions as a gathering place where local artists and visitors connect with current artistic work and cultural conversations.
