Libby's No. 23, Historic sailboat in Lake Clark National Park, Alaska, US

The wooden vessel measures 29 feet 6 inches in length, with identical bow and stern shapes and traditional rigging including mainsail and spritsail equipment.

Built in 1914 by Seattle Shipbuilding Company, this vessel operated in Bristol Bay salmon fisheries until 1951 under Libby's cannery management with two-person crews.

The distinct butterscotch brownish-orange paint identified the boat's cannery affiliation during an era when visual recognition was essential for fishing fleet management.

The National Park Service maintains this vessel in a custom-built boathouse at the Lake Clark National Park and Preserve visitor center in Port Alsworth.

The boat contains two different stove types, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of its crews: a coal-burning Santa Maria and a Primus Optimus model.
