Fairbanks North Star Borough

The Fairbanks North Star Borough is an administrative region in interior Alaska covering numerous towns, villages, and forest lands. The area spans thousands of square kilometers, with Fairbanks as its main population center.

The borough was established in the 1960s as part of Alaska's administrative system to provide local government services. The region developed around gold mining and later petroleum extraction.

The Division of Natural Resources Development manages Borough-owned lands through public sales, licenses, and permits for timber and sand extraction activities.
