Acuario Michin Guadalajara, Public aquarium in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Acuario Michin Guadalajara is a public aquarium in the center of the city housing over two hundred animal and plant species from both salt and freshwater in themed tanks. The areas are organized by habitat and present ecosystems ranging from coasts and reefs to rivers and tropical waters.
Grupo Carso opened this facility to strengthen public awareness of aquatic habitats in Mexico and promote conservation efforts among residents. Since then, the aquarium has expanded its educational programs and become a regular part of the regional learning network.
The name Michin comes from Mexican Spanish and refers affectionately to little fish, reflecting the friendly character of this venue for meeting aquatic life. Families and school groups visit regularly to learn about rivers and oceans through hands-on encounters and guided explanations.
The aquarium sits centrally in Guadalajara and opens Monday through Friday from eight in the morning until five in the afternoon, with several parking spots nearby. Most tanks are accessible at ground level and offer room for wheelchairs and strollers.
In supervised touch pools, visitors can gently interact with selected sea creatures and learn about their natural behaviors up close. These encounters connect learning with direct experience and often leave a lasting impression on both children and adults.
