The museum occupies a grand building with classical symmetry, French eclectic elements, and art nouveau decorative features in central Guadalajara.
The building construction started in 1914 under engineer Alfredo Navarro Branca, later becoming the Legislative Palace before housing the University of Guadalajara.
The institution maintains a collection of over 100 works representing artistic development in Guadalajara between 1981 and 1994, including regional and national artists.
The museum opens Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sundays until 3:00 PM, offering free guided tours and thematic group visits.
The museum houses two notable frescos by José Clemente Orozco from 1935-1937: 'Man Creator and Rebel' on the dome and 'The People and Their False Leaders'.
