Solimar Beach, Beach in Ventura County, United States

Solimar Beach is a sandy shore along the Pacific Coast Highway north of Ventura, California, with views across the ocean. The beach features light-colored sand and easy access from the coastal road for swimmers and beach walkers.

Solimar Beach Colony is the first beach community north of Ventura along the Pacific Coast Highway. The shoreline is lined with ocean-front housing, and the sand south of it has no houses and is treated as the public beach. Two separate private gated residential communities stand to the north.

Mary Osbourne, a professional surfer who won MTV's Surf Girls, is from Solimar. The beach's "Soli" break works well with a southerly swell of 3 feet or more, and the waves change with the shape of the sandbar.

Parking is free along Pacific Coast Highway, and leashed dogs are welcome without any admission fee. The beach is easily accessible since it sits right next to the main coastal road.

The southern stretch is the public section, where the sand is open and no houses stand behind it; north of there, two gated residential communities, the first being Solimar Beach Colony, line the shore. High tide often covers enough sand that the full length cannot be walked.
