Channel Islands Harbor, Recreational port in Oxnard, California, US

Channel Islands Harbor is a horseshoe-shaped small-craft harbor in Oxnard, California, with 166 acres of water and 126 acres of land. It holds more than 2,500 vessels across nine full-service marinas and four yacht clubs, and connects north to Mandalay Bay, a residential development of over 700 boat dock homes built in 1972.

The harbor was constructed in 1960 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers through extensive sand dune excavation. The excess sand from this work was placed on nearby beaches to address coastal erosion issues.

The harbor hosts the Channel Islands Tall Ships Festival every three years, bringing two to five large sailing vessels and thousands of visitors. The Ventura County Maritime Museum displays rotating maritime-themed art and model ships. Four yacht clubs and nine full-service marinas support more than 2,500 vessels.

The Ventura County Harbor Department patrols the main harbor south of the Channel Islands Boulevard bridges, while the City of Oxnard maintains the northern neighborhood waterways. Island Packers runs a ferry from the harbor to Anacapa Island. The Channel Islands Boating Center opened in 2013.

The harbor is home to great blue herons and white egrets that nest in the trees surrounding the water areas. These birds are relatively easy to spot and create an unexpected wildlife experience within the busy port setting.
