Beverly Glen, Residential neighborhood in Los Angeles, US.

Beverly Glen is a residential neighborhood nestled within the Santa Monica Mountains, stretching along Beverly Glen Boulevard between Sunset Boulevard and Mulholland Drive. Homes are scattered across the steep terrain, each positioned to take advantage of the hillside landscape.

This neighborhood emerged during the 1950s housing boom, when developers established the residential area under the original name Glen-Aire near Stone Canyon Reservoir. The expansion followed postwar growth patterns common throughout the Los Angeles region during that era.

Regular community gatherings and markets bring neighbors together throughout the year, creating informal social connections within the residential area. Residents participate in these events to maintain bonds and strengthen ties across the hillside homes.

A personal vehicle is necessary to navigate this area, as narrow mountain roads lack sidewalks and public transportation does not reach the neighborhood. Plan for winding drives and limited parking along the hillside streets.

About 20 stilt houses designed by architect Richard Neutra sit perched on the steep slopes, cantilevered dramatically above Beverly Glen Boulevard. These engineering-forward designs showcase postwar residential architecture that remains striking to see in person.
