Sheats Goldstein Residence, Private residence in Beverly Crest, United States.
The Sheats Goldstein Residence is a single-family home with concrete walls, glass panels, and wooden elements integrated into a sandstone hillside overlooking Los Angeles. The structure incorporates natural ventilation and roughly 750 drinking glasses set into the roof that function as skylights to fill interior spaces with light.
Architect John Lautner designed and built this residence between 1961 and 1963 for Helen and Paul Sheats as their home. James Goldstein purchased the property in 1972 and has resided there since, giving it its current dual-name designation.
The residence gained fame through film appearances, most notably as Jackie Treehorn's house in The Big Lebowski. This cinematic role has made it a destination for movie enthusiasts and architecture lovers alike.
The residence sits on a steep hillside, so visitors should be prepared for walking on uneven terrain when approaching the property. Since it remains a private home, access is limited and visitors should respect boundaries when viewing it from public areas nearby.
The triangular form of the building conceals five bedrooms and bathrooms behind converging glass walls that appear to diverge. This hidden floor plan allows the main living areas to remain completely open while private rooms stay entirely tucked away.
