Charles Fletcher Lummis constructed this residence between 1897 and 1910, incorporating Native American and Spanish colonial architectural influences into the design.
The residence functioned as a meeting place for artists, writers, and civic leaders who shaped the cultural development of Southern California.
The house opens for guided tours every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, allowing visitors to explore the interior spaces and native plant gardens.
Each stone used in the construction was personally collected by Charles Lummis from the nearby Arroyo Seco stream over a thirteen-year period.
