Figueroa Street is a major road in Los Angeles County that runs from Wilmington to Eagle Rock. It connects residential neighborhoods, commercial districts, and entertainment venues as it travels through various parts of the county.
In Spanish colonial times, the street was originally called Calle de los Chapules. It received its current name to honor General José Figueroa, the Mexican governor of Alta California.
Figueroa Street passes through neighborhoods with different characters and communities along its length. The road connects places that matter to the city, such as the University of Southern California, the Los Angeles Convention Center, and the Crypto.com Arena.
The street is accessible by multiple public transportation options, including buses and metro stations at various points along its length. Pedestrians and drivers can reach the street at many different locations depending on which section interests them.
Until 1977, the street held the record as the longest street in the Guinness World Records collection. This title later passed to other longer streets.
