ARCO Tower, Office skyscraper in Central City West, Los Angeles, US
ARCO Tower is a 141-meter-tall office building with 33 floors located at 1055 West Seventh Street in Central City West. The structure contains approximately 205,000 square meters of office space and sits among other downtown skyscrapers near the 110 Freeway.
The tower was constructed between 1988 and 1989 by Turner Construction Company as the headquarters for Atlantic Richfield Company, designed by Gin Wong Associates. It was renamed to 1055 West Seventh in the late 1990s when ownership and use changed.
The tower shows how corporations shaped Los Angeles during the 1980s, when major office buildings became symbols of business power in the city. Visitors can see how this style of building defined the downtown landscape.
The building sits in a well-connected downtown location near the 110 Freeway, making it easy to reach from various parts of the city. The area is most active during business hours with heavy traffic and commercial activity throughout the week.
The building was originally one of three ARCO Towers located within blocks of each other in the same area. This clustering of towers under the same corporate name was an unusual arrangement in how the company expanded its real estate presence.
