Original Cannabis Cafe, Cannabis restaurant in West Hollywood, United States
The Original Cannabis Cafe is a restaurant in West Hollywood, California, that serves food alongside cannabis available for on-site consumption. It has both an indoor dining area and an outdoor patio where both offerings can be enjoyed.
The cafe opened in October 2019 as the first licensed cannabis consumption lounge combined with a restaurant in the US. It came just after California began issuing permits for this type of establishment.
The Original Cannabis Cafe is one of the few places in the US where cannabis can be legally consumed inside a restaurant setting. Guests sit together, share food, and pass time in a way that feels closer to a social evening out than a formal dining experience.
Entry is restricted to people aged 21 and over, so a valid photo ID is required at the door. Cannabis purchases are cash only, while food and drinks can be paid by card.
Chef Jonah Johnson put together a menu with dishes like Buffalo chicken wings and gourmet nachos, chosen to work well alongside the cannabis experience. The cannabis itself is not cooked into the food but offered separately.
