Dolby Theatre, Concert hall in Hollywood Boulevard, United States
The Dolby Theatre is a concert hall and performance venue on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, located within the Ovation Hollywood complex. The auditorium seats over three thousand people, and the stage measures more than 34 meters (113 feet) across and 18 meters (60 feet) deep.
The venue opened on November 9, 2001, under the name Kodak Theatre. In 2012, Dolby Laboratories acquired the naming rights and the building has carried its current name since then.
The entrance displays columns engraved with the names of every film that won the Academy Award for Best Picture, with space allocated through 2071. Visitors walk among these columns and see the timeline of American cinema laid out in order.
The venue sits directly on Hollywood Boulevard and is easy to reach on foot during major events. For visitors with limited mobility, there are accessible entrances and dedicated seating areas throughout the auditorium.
The ceiling of the auditorium contains a silver tiara structure that serves both as an architectural element and as support for the lighting equipment. This structure is visible from the upper seating rows and gives the space a distinctive shape.
