Jim Henson Company Lot, Entertainment production facility in Hollywood, United States.
The Jim Henson Company Lot is an entertainment production facility in Hollywood, United States, featuring six buildings arranged along an internal street. The complex includes recording studios, a large stage for television work, and workshops with storage areas for puppet figures.
Charlie Chaplin built the complex in 1917 as a private studio designed to resemble an English village street. After several changes in ownership, the Henson family purchased the property in the 1960s and turned it into a center for puppet film production.
The lot takes its name from the puppeteer who developed characters and television programs here for decades. Visitors recognize the building by the large green frog perched above the entrance, which has become an informal landmark in the neighborhood.
The lot sits on La Brea Avenue in Hollywood and is easily visible from the street thanks to the frog figure above the entrance. Visitors cannot enter the property, but the historic buildings and facades can be viewed from the sidewalk.
The carpentry workshop and stage from the Chaplin era are still in use for productions today. Visitors viewing the building from outside often see crew members carrying sets or props through the open doors.
