Lanterman House

The Lanterman House is a two-story historic residence with a basement level built in reinforced concrete and featuring Craftsman architectural details throughout. The building combines solid concrete construction with traditional bungalow-style elements characteristic of early 20th-century design.

Dr. Roy Lanterman commissioned architect A. L. Haley to design and build this house in 1915, the year after he had treated earthquake victims from the 1906 disaster. The residence was constructed during a period when builders were experimenting with new concrete methods combined with traditional design.

The house displays original furnishings and hand-painted wall decorations that reflect the artistic interests of those who lived here. These personal touches show how the family expressed themselves through their home's design and ornamentation.
