Gen. Charles S. Farnsworth County Park is a botanical garden and historic park in Altadena with diverse plant collections throughout its grounds. The William D. Davies Memorial Building displays American craftsman architecture from the 1930s era.

The land was purchased by Los Angeles County in 1921 for a nursery and later converted to a public park under General Charles S. Farnsworth's oversight. This transformation reflected the area's growing need for public recreation space.

The park was first named Altadena Park, and in 1939 it was renamed after General Charles S. Farnsworth, who designed it and oversaw its grading and landscaping. Its community center, planned by William O. Davies and paid for with Public Works Administration grants, was later christened the William D. Davies Memorial Building.

Visitors can use hiking trails, picnic areas, and recreational facilities while exploring the diverse plant collections throughout the grounds. The spaces offer ample room for outdoor activities and leisurely walks.

The park earned a National Register of Historic Places designation in 1997 and merges natural plant elements with preserved architecture from the 1930s. This combination of botanical character and safeguarded craftsmanship creates a rare site where history and nature meet.
