Mount Lowe, Mountain peak in Los Angeles County, California.
Mount Lowe rises to 5,603 feet elevation in the San Gabriel Mountains, providing views of Los Angeles Basin and the Pacific Ocean.
The mountain received its name from Professor Thaddeus Lowe, who established the Mount Lowe Railway system from Altadena to the summit in 1893.
The Echo Mountain Hotel complex near Mount Lowe attracted thousands of visitors who enjoyed dining, entertainment, and an observatory until the 1930s.
Hikers can access the summit through two routes: the challenging Sam Merrill Trail or the shorter path starting from Eaton Saddle.
Original viewing tubes remain installed at the summit, allowing visitors to identify landmarks across the Los Angeles region and surrounding mountains.
