Hermosillo Sonora México Temple, Mormon temple in Pitic neighborhood, Hermosillo, Mexico

The Hermosillo Sonora Mexico Temple is a single-spire building clad in white marble veneer, measuring about 77 by 149 feet with 10,700 square feet of floor area. It stands on a 2.07-acre site in the Pitic neighborhood, facing Avenida Pedro García Conde, and holds two ordinance rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry.

The First Presidency announced the temple on July 20, 1998, after Gordon B. Hinckley promised local members a temple during a March 1998 visit. Ground was broken on December 5, 1998, with Eran A. Call presiding before about 1,200 attendees. Gordon B. Hinckley dedicated the building on February 27, 2000, one day after dedicating the Ciudad Juárez Mexico Temple.

The temple serves more than 46,000 members in 12 stakes and 4 districts, drawing worshippers from Ciudad Obregón, Culiacán, Guaymas, Caborca, Nogales and Los Mochis. Like all LDS temples, it is not used for Sunday services; members come for ordinances such as sealings in its two sealing rooms. The first stake in Hermosillo was created in 1976.

The temple stands on a 2.07-acre site in the Pitic neighborhood, on the eastern side of Hermosillo, facing Avenida Pedro García Conde, a boulevard with a planted center island of flowers, trees, benches and pavers. It sits directly north of the Hermosillo Mexico Pitic Stake stake center. Like all LDS temples, it is not used for Sunday worship; the interior is reserved for members holding a temple recommend, so other visitors see the white marble exterior and the angel Moroni statue from the boulevard.

The site is a 2.07-acre property on the eastern side of Hermosillo in the Pitic neighborhood, directly north of the stake center for the Hermosillo Mexico Pitic Stake. It faces Avenida Pedro García Conde, a landscaped boulevard with flowers, trees, benches and pavers that local members volunteered to plant during construction.
