The white marble structure rises 71 feet high and features a single spire topped with an angel Moroni statue at General Pedro Garcia Conde 303.
The temple opened its doors on February 27, 2000, becoming the 72nd operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints worldwide.
The temple serves Mormon communities across Sonora state, where the first converts were baptized near Hermosillo in 1876 after missionaries arrived.
The 10,769-square-foot building contains two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and requires appointments for proxy ordinances through the temple office.
Local members actively participated in the temple construction by helping with landscaping tasks around the 1.54-acre property.
