River Reservoir, Waterbody in Apache County, Arizona
River Reservoir is a lake in the White Mountains near Greer, Arizona, covering approximately 50 to 120 acres at an elevation over 8,000 feet. The lake is part of the Greer Lakes group and sits surrounded by forests and open mountain terrain.
The reservoir was built many years ago to store water for farming and regional needs. It has since become a favored destination for outdoor recreation and relaxation for both locals and visitors.
The lake is accessed via Highway 260 between Hon Dah and Springerville, then turn south on Highway 373. Only electric motors are permitted, live bait is not allowed, so most anglers fish early morning or evening with worms or artificial lures.
The water is often clear enough to see fish swimming below the surface. This transparency makes it a special place to observe aquatic life without entering the water.
