Hacienda San Jacinto, National monument in Tipitapa, Nicaragua.
The San Jacinto Hacienda contains three exhibition halls displaying military artifacts, national symbols, and historical objects from the 1856 battle against American filibuster forces.
On September 14, 1856, 160 Nicaraguan soldiers led by Colonel Jose Dolores Estrada defeated 300 American filibuster troops through an unexpected stampede of horses.
The hacienda museum preserves the famous painting depicting Andres Castro's stone throw at an invader, created by Chilean artist Luis Vergara Ahumada in 1962.
The site charges different entrance fees: 2 cordobas for students, 5 for youth, 10 for adults, and 2 US dollars for international visitors.
The cremated remains of national hero Andres Castro rest in a special urn inside the hacienda where he defended Nicaragua's sovereignty in 1856.
