Concepción de Ataco, Mountain district in Ahuachapán, El Salvador

Located at an elevation of 1240 meters, Concepción de Ataco extends across 61 square kilometers in the Sierra de Apaneca mountain range.

Founded in 1543 as a settlement of Yaqui and Pipil communities, Concepción de Ataco received its city status in 1999 after centuries of administrative changes.

The town celebrates its patron saint festivities from December 11 to 15, with the Día de Los Farolitos illuminating streets with colored lanterns.

Visitors can explore eleven distinct districts, including El Arco, El Limo, and San José, each offering different experiences of local craft shops and traditions.

La Casa de Los Telares, established in 1910, continues to produce handmade textiles through traditional weaving methods used by local artisans.
