Pasca, Administrative division in Cundinamarca, Colombia.
Pasca is a municipality in Cundinamarca that spreads across the Altiplano Cundiboyacense, reaching elevations between 2,000 and 3,500 meters (6,500 and 11,500 feet). The territory sits within the Colombian Andes and features mountainous terrain throughout.
Juan de Céspedes founded Pasca on July 15, 1537, when the last Muisca settlement fell under Spanish rule. This marked the end of Muisca territory before Spanish expansion moved southward.
The name Pasca comes from the Chibcha language and means 'father's enclosure', a term that reflects the Muisca people who inhabited this region for generations.
The municipality is governed by an elected mayor and council serving four-year terms. These officials manage local matters within Cundinamarca department's administrative structure.
An archaeological excavation in 1969 uncovered a Muisca raft in Pasca. This artifact is now displayed in the Gold Museum in Bogotá.
