Samaná

Samaná is a municipality in the Magdalena Caldense region of Colombia, situated in the Andes at around 1460 meters elevation. The area is covered in thick tropical rainforest and characterized by an exceptionally wet climate.

Samaná was founded in 1884 as an administrative division in the Magdalena Caldense region. The municipality was established as a settlement in one of Colombia's wettest mountain areas.
