The Torre de Herveo features a lattice structure made from 1,470 timber blocks, including Guaiac, Mahogany, Bay, and Comino wood materials.
Built between 1922 and 1961, this tower functioned as a support structure for the cable transport system connecting Manizales with Mariquita.
The structure represents engineering innovations during Colombia's coffee trade expansion, marking a period of economic growth in the Manizales region.
The tower stands near the National University of Manizales Faculty of Architecture and remains visible from public roads throughout the day.
Engineer James Lindsay designed this transportation tower that later transformed into a monument after the cable system ceased operations in 1961.
