Autódromo de Tocancipá, motorsport track in Colombia
The Autódromo de Tocancipá is a racing circuit in the town of Tocancipá featuring multiple tracks for different vehicle types and motorsport activities. The asphalt main course includes varied turns and corners, while separate areas accommodate motocross, kart racing, and off-road vehicle training.
The facility was created in the 1980s in response to uncontrolled street racing in Bogotá that had become common in the 1970s. After an earlier version closed, the current site opened in 1982 and grew into Colombia's motorsport center, hosting major championships and establishing a driver training school.
The facility can be used for various activities ranging from training sessions to racing events and driver education with hands-on practice on the courses. Visitors should prepare for loud engine noise and wear comfortable shoes since exploring the different areas involves walking around the grounds.
The facility was developed with the involvement of prominent racing drivers like Juan Pablo Montoya, who has a dedicated kart track named after him there. This connection to local motorsport legends makes the place a gathering point for aspiring drivers inspired by successful role models.
